Washing Hair Extensions

Extensions should be cared for as you would your own. Keeping your extensions clean is definitely a must! Below are a few tips to keep your hair looking a smelling Fresh!

Co Washing- Co Washing is a great method to use in between washes. This term simply means to wash your hair with conditioner and not shampoo. Use this technique in moderation depending on what hair texture that you have in. More coarse textures will benefit from co washing  more regularly. Co washing not only cleanses the hair, it also adds moisture!

Deep Conditioning- Before I install my extensions I may Deep Condition them depending on the texture and body. Once way to cleanse the hair and add body is Deep Conditioning. This method is very simple. Wet the extensions, add conditioner to them, place them in a plastic bag (grocery bags work best in my experience), and put them in the microwave for no longer than 1 minute and 15 seconds. Make sure there are clips nor bobby pins on the extensions.

Shampoo- Shampooing can be very drying depending on what shampoo you use. Make sure to use "sulfate-free shampoo". While shampooing, lather the shampoo on the top of the hair and allow the shampoo to clean the shaft of your hair when you rinse it. Avoid being rough with your extensions, and be sure to follow each wash with a good conditioner.
